Dr. Oliver serves as the clinical director for Elysian Psychological Services. She completed her doctoral studies in Clinical Psychology at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and completed her predoctoral internship at Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Hampton, Virginia. She has worked and trained in a variety of clinical settings including with active military service members with the Department of Defense as well as inpatient and forensic work based in in-patient state hospitals.
Dr. Oliver’s work and experience expand across an array of trauma and personality difficulties including personality disorders. She also treats depression, anxiety, marriage and family issues, relational issues, divorce recovery and co-parenting, life transitions, trauma, adjustment issues, and grief. Dr. Oliver believes that the foundation of therapeutic work is the collaborative relationship between client and therapist exploring possibilities and solutions to transcend suffering, face reality, and remove barriers to well-being.
Life experiences shape perspectives, alter expectations and focus of attention, and determine emotional and physical well-being. Her approach combines empirically supported treatments with interpersonal sensitivity and attention to each client’s unique needs. Dr. Oliver’s treatment approach places an emphasis on people as complex individuals who are best understood within their own life stories, lending a treatment approach that is directly tailored to her patients.
